    Going to Edmonton

    2012 - 09.30

We’re going to be spending some time in Edmonton in October.  Karin has spent a small amount of time there previously, and if I’ve been it was long enough ago that I have minimal memory of it.

Regardless, anyone got any recommendations for:

    • things to do?
    • places to see?
    • places to eat?
    • places to stay?

Anyone got special requests for things they want brought back from Edmonton?

    AAA Batteries anyone?

    2012 - 09.28

It’s time to replace some batteries in our cordless phones, which use rechargeable AAA batteries.  So I started looking around for the best prices, and just when I thought I’d found it, I found a better one.

Looks like the normal price for 4 AAA rechargeables is about $20, at the moment a couple of places have them on sale for $15.  That said, Costco sells a 12 pack for $33 (or $11/4 AAA), by far the best overall deal.  We probably don’t need 12 batteries at the moment, not all of the 5 phones need the batteries replaced.  So thought I’d throw it out there and see if anyone else would like some AAA batteries at the moment, if not we’ll probably still get the 12 pack, but figured we might be able to save someone else some money too…

    Prodige Underwear

    2012 - 09.27

If there’s anyone else out there who misses the underwear that they used to buy at Costco, you can buy the Prodige Athletik cut boxer briefs at Sears.  They have been on sale during Sears Days (which ends on Sunday) for as much as 40% off ($9.99 regular).

They also have other styles of Prodige underwear, and in truth pretty much all of the underwear they sell is on sale, so if you like other brands you might find a bargain.

Chef Michael’s Kitchen: Gluten Free Flour

    2012 - 09.12

Finally an actual cooking show, probably the best one since Good Eats!  There’s several great things about the show, first off is Michael Smith who’s just awesome.  The second is that the show is about teaching techniques or frameworks in which you can channel your creativity and be successful.  In essence taking most of the risk out of experimentation and a lot of the fear too.

In the second episode Cooking with allergies: Lasagna, Muffins & Cookies (which you can watch online) he does some gluten free stuff, but probably the most interesting thing is that he makes his own gluten free flour mix.

Anyway, it’s only two episodes in, but we’re already hooked on Chef Michael’s Kitchen.
